Phoenix - Philomeena by Cahoonas Phoenix - Philomeena by Cahoonas
An origami phoenix folded from 24cm square red/yellow duo paper.

As a fan of the MLP stylized phoenixes, I promised myself several monthes ago I would design one with the appropriate color changes. The designing process actually went through many variations of bases. However, even after many trial and error sessions, I still could not get a base with the style of wings I wanted. It was only after focusing on developing those three feather points at each wingtip, did I managed to come across a base that would give me the wings that resembled those shown in the show. After some more experimentation, I was finally achieved a color change style I was happy with.

I still think the head could still be improved (and incorporate more yellow in the neck), and will be a point of improvement if I fold this again in the future.

Your Philomeena is really beautiful! :)
It is really inspiring to see what is possible given enough practice and expertise.

I'll admit, this one overall took quite a bit of time:
-designing a viable base
-folding it over and over with "scratch paper" to get the proportions right
-Testing with colored paper and adjusting the design so the colors ended up in the right spots

I spent a decent chunk of the past week getting through those last two phases, However, the model itself probably takes less than an hour.
