I actually made this model several years ago; I've been uploading my milestones in origami and had forgotten about this model until now. The intersecting dollar bill tetrahedron marked the "end" of my modular origami phase. The dollar bill idea comes the same book I learned this model: The Origami Handbook by Rick Beech. This book contains an excellent variety of simple to intermediate models, including an impressive modular section near the end. I found this book to be a good bridge to develop from a beginner to intermediate folder.

Some tips if you want to make this with dollar bills: I'm assuming you already know how to make this with normal 1:3 rectangular paper. In order to convert a dollar bill to the appropriate 1:3 dimensions, I found simply folding in a little past the white border on the green side of the bill gave consistent results. From here, proceed as normal. Also, use crisp bills!
